I hold a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering (B.Tech) from Indira Gandhi Institute of Technology, Sarang (Odisha), and a Master's degree in Chemical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (BHU), Varanasi. My research interests focus on battery technologies, particularly energy storage systems, critical mineral recovery, and electrochemical modelling, during my M. Tech, I worked on modelling the thermal runaway behaviour of lithium-ion batteries, gaining hands-on experience in electrochemical-thermal simulation. I am keenly interested in integrating liquid-liquid Extraction Techniques, microfluidics, and advanced modelling techniques to develop safer, more efficient processes for addressing critical mineral shortages.

Prasanth G

I am Prasanth G from Bangalore, currently pursuing my Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering at IIT Hyderabad under the guidance of Dr. Gande Vamsi Vikram, where my thesis focuses on “Advancements in the Recovery of Critical Minerals from Spent Lithium-ion Batteries.” My work involves discharging, dismantling, and experimentally studying spent batteries to recover valuable materials, along with parallel projects on PCB recycling and fly ash recovery. I completed my Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from Ramaiah Institute of Technology, Bangalore, in 2022, where I worked on the synthesis of carbon dots for heavy metal ion detection (Fe³⁺, Hg²⁺) and also contributed to research on polymers, nanomaterials, and polymer nanocomposites, resulting in two publications on carbon dots and three on polymer nanocomposites. Following this, I worked as a researcher at Boeing, developing fast-curing sealant compositions and materials. I have hands-on experience with advanced characterization and electrochemical techniques such as XRD, SEM, TEM, FTIR, UV-Vis, PL, TGA, DSC, glove box operations, UTM, potentiostat, SECM, impedance analyzer, and multichannel potentiostat. My research interests lie in lithium-ion battery recycling, critical mineral recovery, nanomaterials, polymer nanocomposites, and sustainable e-waste recycling.
